The Challenge
Limited testing provided by the main contractor meant we could only take a view on the material at depth, making it difficult to determine waste classification accurately. As the site was in a busy port, obtaining existing site history posed a significant challenge. Additionally, a substantial volume of asphalt needed to be removed without any prior testing for Coal Tar.
The Solution
To address these challenges, SoilEx visited the site for a full day and collaborated with the client and on site machinery to dig various trial pits. Samples were collected at depth to gain an accurate understanding of ground conditions, ensuring the results represented the associated risks.The lab analysed the samples, allowing us to provide a clear and concise classification. This gave the client confidence in handling the works, identifying where each type of material needed to go. As a result, the project proceeded smoothly, meeting the timeline and budget requirements of the main contractor.

With our thorough approach, the client was able to manage waste removal efficiently and in compliance with regulations. Materials were properly classified, helping to minimise risks and allowing the project to move forward smoothly.
